Safeguarding Children needs your help!

 

As a result of the extensive research involved in the development of our latest course – Recognising and Responding to Grooming, we discovered that the crime of grooming in Aotearoa New Zealand only relates to online grooming. Grooming by someone in an institution, community or family situation is not included in the Crimes Act 1961. Section 131B relates to grooming, but only in the situation when it moves from online to meeting in person. What about all the other situations where the child is with or known to the person?

It’s not good enough, and is not helping in the prevention of child sexual abuse. Let’s make a difference together. Play your part by signing our petition and sharing it widely:
